FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT WITH SHARON TING & LOUISE ANDERSON
TPP1 Formative Assessment
Thursday 3rd December
Potential Creative Development
- make more of the tension between the areas of space on the cloth
- try working with really watered down pigment
- consider the thread (different types of black thread, monofilament, hair)
- consider stitching and then discharging to get a mottled effect
- work on the depth of black / shades of black
- you need to think about design development
- the stitch needs to be more refined, it needs to be a thought, not an afterthought
- paint and sketch design developments
Action-ables
- on your blog differentiate between tutorials , people responding to work and being in conversation
- think about your site/location
- keep eyes peeled for more information on main foyer group exhibition (this can act as your live project)
Advice
- beware of "wellbeing", a bit buzzwordy <<< you have to really be able to back this up
- the selection of sewn samples apply themselves to fashion really well
- installation & fabric construction could be two interlinking things but two different contexts
- think about permanence & impermanence
- find ways of suggesting 'garment' - relation to each other, to the body (steer away from mannequins) to obvious
- there's lots of info here but don't let it throw you, just be selective and carry on
Contextual References
- Welcome Trust Exhibition "Dust"
Notes of how I present
- try to answer given questions more directly, really listen to the question and avoid monologuing about something related but not the actual question
*For example, sharon asked if I am working directly from shapes in my sketchbook or intuitively on the print table - the answer should have been "yes I am working intuitively". This keeps the conversation clear.
