TPP2 Tutorial 3 (1-2-1 with Sharon Ting)

                       Friday 5th March

 Pre Tutorial Critical Reflection -

List 3 priorities below to discuss at your tutorial:

    1. Questions regarding TPP1 feedback , “explore the social element more”, “the emotional aspects may help with practicing more immersive concepts”
    2. TPP2 ideas / project proposal, I’d like to stick with the title embodied absence, but focus in on two sub themes, familiarity and impermanence- I think the narrative is all about feeling the void
    3. When and What? Facilities wise I’d like to go into the studio before easter just to reacquaint myself again, maybe produce some simple but larger scale A3 /A2 screen prints to work into with stitch over Easter - alongside working on digital things for hard material manufacture
    4. TPP, I have a WIP to discuss with you
    5. NSS - completed

    During your Tutorial:

    • Find your anchor- what are you feeling
    • Visualise it as a seesaw, on one side is your response, on the other is the primary information you’re collecting (audience response) - one balanced out the other to ensure the outcome sits somewhere that is true to both sides
    • Look up definitions of the void and how different disciplines have explored this theme - make a mind map on the 2 sub-themes and then we can see how big it is
    • There is a sense of curiosity in the desire for engagement- not judgement or a measurement against your presentation
    • Think of the studio as a making space , purposeful making
    • Email Jo about purchasing and collecting permatrace to work on at home
    • Look back at your sampling, and play with process - have you thought about using devore? It could be interesting in terms of the ‘void’ - even though you’re using linens, you could explore the edges of devore by using wet spray and an iron or a heat gun YOU WOULD NEED TO TALK TO JO, WORK OUTSIDE AND WEAR MORE PPE)
    • Have you thought about using your sugar work - appeals to the sense, edible, interaction, draws attention.
    • Alternatively the sugar work is a great development tool in regards to form not surface

    Post Tutorial Critical Reflection:

    Personal comments

    • With the news that studios are definitely opening, I am feeling positive about being able to pin this project down in some physical work

    Priorities/Tasks

    1. Email Jo about purchasing and collecting permatrace to work on at home
    2. Keep your eyes out for an email but we may be open for third years the first week of easter
    3. Make a mind map on the 2 sub-themes and then we can see how big it is
